Don't know if this was intentional but this line had strong last supper vibes. So good:

"I confessed that being in the arms of a woman feels like laying in the lap of God."

Recently I began embracing more of that feminine energy this year by praying the rosary. The Marian devotions were difficult for me to embrace throughout most of my life, but practicing those feminine disciplines recently has been refreshing and enriching to my faith.

Thank you for posting this piece and I hope you will continue to reprise this topic in your work!

Hey Steven, I didn’t intend for that connection. I’m curious though, how is it related to the last supper?

Thank you for sharing this about your faith and for the encouragement! My medium for embracing the feminine is usually movement and meditation.

In John's account at the last supper, John literally lays in the lap of Jesus. It is a beautiful and heartbreaking scene. Worth a read. John 13.

Just want to chime in that this is a perfect sentence. Perfectly true, perfectly written.

Really appreciate this, Charlie, thanks for reading!

Okay. Banger. This is one of the best pieces I’ve read about paying homage to women -- not in a “women are so great, look how strong they are, please don’t cancel me” way, but in a legitimate reflection of how women simply being women is beautiful, and they need no other introduction.

Now I want the Sun essay!!

I live to write Grace-certified bangers — so glad to hear this.

Yeah maybe I’ll try channeling Apollo.

What’s the equivalent of male energy embodied in a celestial object?

The Sun embodies be the male energy. The Sun is strong, perpetually active and provides enough energy for all life to grow. The Sun is at the center of our attention but remains distant, independent.

Actually, I rethought this.. so if the female is the moon, and orbits a planet, and a sun is heating the entire universe, there are so many planets orbiting the sun. I am not a fan of this metaphor upon further thought. What would make more sense is two planets orbiting the same thing, not one as contingent upon the other right?

Hey Sadia, I know the binary star essay and this Moon essay are both about celestial objects, but they are different metaphors. (I just linked the other essay here because these are both about relationships.) There’s one metaphor about the Sun and Moon being symbolic of masculine and feminine energies. There’s another about how a healthy relationship emulates a binary star system.

Hey Garrett, I'm afraid I don't know much about celestial objects. You obviously have found metaphors that really work for you!
