Ostensibly this is just a short passage about how you climbed a mountain and chatted with an old friend, but I could feel the weight of it moving through my body just like your footsteps must have done as you bouldered that final section.
Often I wonder if stories about my daily life are really worth telling, but then I come across something like this that reminds me it's possible to convey the tacit beauty of daily moments through writing, and it's worth trying - especially when it also reminds you of a powerful lesson, like the value of play in all pursuits.
This means a lot, Neha, thank you. As I was working on this piece, I doubted whether there was anything worth sharing from the day. I worried that it would be too mundane or too personal. And it wasn’t until pretty far into the writing process that I felt I landed on an angle that would be both meaningful to me and relatable (hopefully valuable) to other people.
It was rewarding to challenge myself to turn a pretty normal day into an engaging story with a theme/message. I encourage you to go for it and write about an experience that may seem mundane but is deeply meaningful to you. If you do, please share it with me. I’d love to read it.
